I wanted to let everyone know that I’m doing my bit this year to raise awareness (and hopefully some money) for men’s health – specifically prostate and testicular cancer.
You see on 4th October my Dad heard that he’d been successful in pushing prostate cancer into remission. It was my Mum’s birthday; and my eldest daughter’s, too. We celebrated together with lots of hugs and some cake.
I planned to let everyone know I was doing the Movember thing on the 1st of November. It didn’t work out like that one bit. Dad had open-heart surgery (twice) on that day. It was unexpected, and I parked the Movember thought for a while (but didn’t shave) until Dad recovered sufficiently to be moved out of intensive care.
I reflected on all this while out walking in the Somerset countryside with my family on Sunday. It was a spine-tingilingly beautiful autumn day. One of the best I can remember. And Dad is just back home, getting better by the day.
So I meant to ask you earlier… but if you feel able to donate a few quid (or just chuckle at some old university pics) you need to visit My Mo Space. I’d like you to know that my Dad received fantastic treatment and care at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton, and at the Bristol Heart Institute.
Thank you ever so much.
